Escape room is a 2019 movie directed by Adam Robitel.
An intriguing invitation brings six strangers together. Initially, they think they have gathered for a highly immersive escape room, but they soon make the sickening discovery that they are pawns in a sadistic game of life and death. Together, they move from one terrifying scenario to the next as they find clues and solves puzzles. But the players soon learn that exposing their darkest secrets may hold the key to survive.
The film opens with the characters meeting each other in a waiting room. They’ve all been invited to a chance to win $10k due to their puzzle solving skills.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, for starters, instead of being welcomed into the game by a games master, they find they are actually locked in the waiting room. And what is more, someone has rigged the heaters to overheat.
It’s almost like someone is trying to kill them!
Working together they must solve puzzles in each room…….and not die in the process.
A twist in the tale is that each character has already survived some form of disaster. Now they must face their fears again, as the rooms appear to be setup to kill them in similar ways. It struck us a being similar to Final Destination in that sense.
Worth a watch, but don’t take it too seriously.
